Vinyl is something more than a simple audio medium: it is a concrete, tangible object that occupies space, requires attention, and demands respect.
Vinyl Listening Room 2, with a focus dedicated to the 7-inch format, is a space conceived to promote music recorded on vinyl as an art form, encourage the discovery of musical tradition, enhance the value of the record heritage, and celebrate the time dedicated to listening. After the success of the first room, where ambient listening and shared sound are the protagonists, we decided to explore the opposite and more intimate side of analog, focusing exclusively on high-fidelity headphone listening. Open to everyone, and accessible to people in wheelchairs, Vinyl Listening Room 2 welcomes enthusiasts, the curious, and scholars, inviting them to explore a vast collection of rare vinyls. The room was born within the framework of the Bologna UNESCO City of Music initiatives and was realized thanks to the generous donation of the vinyl collection of the Santonastaso family, in particular of the brothers Carlo and Mario. In addition to the Santonastaso collection, the room houses a classical music collection donated by the Bibliobologna Aps association.
The room, on the second floor of Biblioteca Salaborsa, is accessible by reservation only.
